Adtec's afiniti Platform Encoder Products Available Q2 2018;
Nashville, Tennessee - (February, 2018)
As Adtec’s dense afiniti based encoder products go on sale in Q2 of 2018, we find stories of HEVC compression adoption scattered throughout industry headlines. With mass adoption and transition in the broadcast industry imminent, the push forward has begun as many leading TV broadcast equipment manufacturers have added HEVC compression to their offerings. Adtec joins this industry trend and will release a new HEVC encoding solution via the afiniti platform later this year while providing dense, 4K(UHD), AVC encoding today with our current encoder packages.
Designed for use in broadcast contribution applications, these packages are tailored for 4K(UHD) and At-Home production. The afiniti chassis can be purchased with as few as two channels of AVC encoding and can be expanded, two at a time, for a total of eight channels in 1RU which can then be multiplexed into a ASI or IP feed. With proven and widely-utilized AVC compression technology, this dense architecture offers a more cost-effective and space-efficient solution. When the transition to HEVC becomes part of your workflow, these AVC encoding sets can be replaced with HEVC encoding sets one at a time or all at once providing the greatest flexibility.
“We are excited to offer the afiniti encoder to broadcast professionals who have been searching for a reliable and cost effective solution to ingest multiple simultaneous video feeds,” said Ron Johnson, President at Adtec Digital. “Almost 20 years ago Adtec pioneered a way to synchronize the decoding and playback of multiple video streams. Later we invented a way to synchronize the encoding of multiple asynchronous video streams, but separate encoders had to be used to accomplish the task. Now, by using the afiniti, up to eight video sources can be encoded into a single rack unit product and multiplexed into a high quality video feed suitable for contribution broadcast applications.”
Adtec’s afiniti encoders will be showcased at the Broadcast Video Expo (BVE) to be held February 27 through March 1 at the ExCeL London Convention Center located in Custom House, London. We have partnered with M&J Communications and will be exhibiting in stand #17.
